Online Giving
Why should we give?
The Scriptures point to giving as result of a heart that has been filled up. Paul speaks to the abundance of riches that we have in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). It is because we have been blessed so vastly that we reach into the abundance that has been given to us to give back. We do this for two reasons:
1. To bless others the way we have been blessed by God. We have great riches in Christ. We have been freed from our sin and live lives of joy and peace in relationship with God through Christ. People need to hear this Good News. They need what has been given to us. We need to give in order to accomplish the work of the ministry and bring people into our joy.
2. To remind ourselves of our utter dependence upon God. Giving is a stark reminder that we don’t have anything that we didn’t receive from God (1 Corinthians 4:7). It is a reminder that it all goes back to Him and that without Him we would be utterly and hopelessly lost. It trains us to, in spite of our abundance, live lives dependent, in faith, upon Him.
How should we give?
In Person:
Drop your offering in the offering plate during that part of the service. Giving envelopes are available, ask the church office if you need them. Checks should be made out to First Baptist Church of Silvis.
Online:
Make your offering online with a debit or credit card. You can also set up an automatic withdrawal.
